Our Twestival flyers - thanks to Liz May and St Austell Printing Co

Posted on: 24 March 2010 at 0835 - Comment

We’re absolutely staggered and delighted by the number of people who have offered their time and expertise to help out with Cornwall Twestival 2010.

Today our heartfelt thanks go to Liz May of Design Thoughts, and the St Austell Printing Company, who between them have generously designed and printed our Twestival posters, flyers and other materials.

Look out for the flyers and posters in cafés, shops and bars near you - and don’t forget there’s still time to get tickets for tomorrow’s event. We have a fantastic musical line-up featuring some of Cornwall’s best up-and-coming talent and some great auction prizes - all for just £10! Buy Cornwall Twestival tickets here.

The Scholars to play at Cornwall Twestival Global 2010

Posted on: 23 March 2010 at 1536 - Comment

We’re excited to announce that The Scholars will be playing at Cornwall Twestival Global from 7.30pm to 8pm, in the Vertigo Bar garden (or in the Conservatory, if it’s raining).

The Scholars are a close harmony group consisting of five choral scholars from Truro Cathedral. They all live and sing together on a daily basis, making it very easy to put this group together. They all come from an intense musical background whether it be as an ex-chorister of a cathedral choir, studying music at university or just loving to sing on a regular basis. Three of them were head choristers at their respective cathedrals of Wells, York and Lincoln, and they also come from as far away as Canada.

They sing a wide variety of styles, ranging from the traditional barbershop numbers like ‘My Evaline’ to close harmony arrangements of well known songs by The Beatles and Queen, as well as folksongs and more eclectic tunes, some self arranged. They put a lot of energy into everything that they sing, and their enjoyment of all music, with their close harmony so very different from what they sing in the cathedral, is clear.

The Scholars are:

Alto - Donald Hunt
Tenor - Kieran White
Tenor - William Kilvington-Shaw
Baritone - Sam Mitchell
Bass - Joachim Sabbat
