The Hitchcock Rules to play at Cornwall Twestival Global 2010

Posted on: at 1216 - Comment

We’re very excited to announce today that top Cornish indie rock band The Hitchcock Rules are confirmed to play at Cornwall Twestival Global 2010 on Thursday 25th March at Truro’s Vertigo Bar.

A self-styled “indie, rock, pop melting pot” whose 2008 album For My Monster was described by the RouteNote blog as a “fast-paced, stomping, pop-tastic, sing-along chorus-fest”, Perranporth-based The Hitchcock Rules have built up a large and loyal fan following since their foundation in 2004.

Cornwall’s Stranger Mag recently hailed The Hitchcock Rules as “a Cornish band to look out for. They are bound to get on and adorn student walls across the country.” Don’t miss this chance to see them play live at Twestival!

The Hitchcock Rules join an outstanding Twestival line-up showcasing some of the best of Cornish musical talent. Also playing on March 25th are:

Jessica Sweetman: Twenty year-old Jessica is a singer-songwriter from Looe who is already being mentioned in the same breath as Duffy, Katie Melua, Pixie Lott and Norah Jones. But Jessica is rapidly establishing her own reputation with a string of original songs including the sensational When It Comes To Love. With girl-next-door appeal and a distinctive, purring voice, Jessica is well on her way to earning a place among the A-listers*.

Sam Powell: Truro’s Sam Powell is a singer-songwriter whose folk-inflected songs, accompanied by acoustic guitar, have been described as “dark, atmospheric, and most strikingly beautiful”. Sam is currently making an EP with Squareball Records, due out in March 2010.

Sophie Stokes: Headlining at Twestival Global 2010 after a very well-received set at Cornwall Twestival Local last year, Sophie’s soulful vocals –which have been compared favourably with those of Devon superstar Joss Stone – will provide a perfect climax to the evening. Sophie is currently recording her first EP with OGS Media which will be launched very soon.

Get your ticket - before it’s too late!
This is an outstanding opportunity to see the cream of Cornwall’s musical talent ‘before they were famous’, for a ticket price of just £10.00. Don’t miss out – buy your Twestival ticket today!

About Cornwall Twestival Global 2010
Taking place from 7pm-1am on March 25th, Cornwall Twestival Global is a real-world party where Twitter users and social media fans can meet up offline at Truro’s buzzy and popular Vertigo Bar, put faces to names and enjoy an evening of live music and other entertainments.

Every penny raised from ticket sales and other fundraising activities at the event will go to Concern Worldwide, an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to reducing suffering and ending extreme poverty.
